When we have difficult choices to make, we should always make good choices for love of God. Jesus is the perfect model of this for us. With the same gifts of infused moral virtues, the followers of Jesus can also do amazing, even heroic, things for love of God.
Once we see life properly, we will find that the goods of this life (pleasure, comfort, wealth, power, fame, etc.) aren’t what really make us happy. Poverty of Spirit, meekness, justice and the other beatitudes are the true way to happiness. It seems like a total paradox, but its the gospel truth!
Although there are active bioethical debates around the world that use all sorts of sophisticated language, this denial of childhood to the youngest among us is at the heart of the arguments. Don’t fall for the sophistry. The academic, medical, and political debates in the international community go awry on this very simple question. Is an embryo a child?
